Remove the radio
Remove the centre panel around the radio using a plastic pry tool. On Mazda models (Mazda 2, 3, 6, CX-5) there are clip connections and sometimes screws behind the trim ring. Slide the radio forward.

Read the serial number
The serial number is on the label on the side or top of the radio (e.g. 14791234 or a Clarion series). Note it in full. Note the radio model: Mazda uses Clarion, Bose or Pioneer depending on year and specification.
