Renault Update List Radio Code Guide
The Update List is the CD-generation Renault factory radio, fitted across the range from about 2005 to 2015: Clio III, Megane II and III, Scenic II and III, Laguna II/III, Kangoo II, Trafic and the equivalent Dacia models. Like its predecessor the Tuner List, it can show its own PRE-code on the display, which makes unlocking it one of the quickest jobs in car audio.
Getting the PRE-code on the display
- Ignition on — the display shows CODE.
- Hold presets 1 and 6 together for a few seconds.
- The display shows one letter + three digits (e.g. A123). That is your PRE-code.
Enter the PRE-code on our Renault page and the 4-digit unlock code is calculated instantly. This also works for Dacia versions of the same unit — use the Dacia page for those.
Entering the unlock code
- Press preset 1 — the display shows 0000.
- Set each digit with presets 1–4.
- Hold preset 6 until the radio confirms and starts playing.
Update List with steering-column satellite
Most Renaults with the Update List have the remote satellite behind the steering wheel. You can also confirm the code entry by holding the bottom roller button on the satellite — handy when the preset buttons are worn.

Frequently asked questions
My Clio shows CODE but 1+6 gives nothing. Which radio do I have?
A Clio III can also carry a Media Nav touchscreen (no code needed) or an early Tuner List. If 1+6 and 1+5 both fail on a button unit, remove the radio — the PRE-code is printed on the label.
Is the code lost when the battery is replaced again?
The code never changes. Note it once and future battery changes cost you thirty seconds of typing.
Why does the display show three horizontal bars?
Bars mean the unit is in its wait state after wrong attempts. Leave the ignition on for around an hour and the input reopens.
