Nissan LCN Connect Radio Code Guide
The Nissan Connect (often labelled LCN, for Low-Cost Navigation) is the factory touchscreen radio-navigation in the Qashqai, Juke, Note and Micra from roughly 2008 to 2017. Built by Bosch and Clarion, it locks itself the moment constant battery power is lost and then asks for a code — or worse, appears completely dead. This guide explains the LCN generations, where the serial lives and what is realistically possible.
LCN1 or LCN2?
- LCN1 (±2008–2013) — 5-inch screen with physical buttons around it. Qashqai J10, Juke F15, Note E11.
- LCN2 (±2013–2017) — flatter design, often labelled NissanConnect. Qashqai J11, Juke facelift, Note E12.
Finding the serial number
- On a working screen: open Settings → System Information (or Info → Unit Information). The unit serial or device ID is listed there.
- On a dead or locked screen: remove the unit with DIN release keys and read the label. Bosch units show a long numeric serial (often starting 7612…); Clarion units a serial with letter prefix.
- Photograph the whole label — with Nissan the part number matters as much as the serial.
Honest coverage note
Nissan is the one major brand where no universal calculation exists. Codes are looked up per serial, and some Bosch LCN series are locked to the car rather than the unit — those can only be restored via a dealer with the VIN. Frequently asked questions
My LCN shows no code prompt at all, just a boot loop. Is that the code lock?
Usually not — a boot loop points to a firmware or power fault rather than the anti-theft lock. The code lock always shows an input prompt. For a boot loop, check the fuse and connector first.
Can the dealer always retrieve my Nissan code?
The dealer can retrieve codes for vehicle-linked units using the VIN, typically for a fee and with proof of ownership. For unit-linked serials our lookup is faster and cheaper — and if we have no match, the dealer route remains open.
Does entering a wrong code damage the unit?
No, but the wait time between attempts grows quickly. Enter a code only when you are confident it belongs to your unit's serial.
