Ford TravelPilot Radio Code Guide
The Ford TravelPilot is the factory navigation unit built by Blaupunkt for the Focus, C-Max, Mondeo, S-Max, Galaxy and Kuga of roughly 2007–2014. After a battery change it asks for a 4-digit keycode, and because it is a navigation unit rather than a plain radio, many owners are surprised it uses the classic Ford code system at all. It does — and the code can be calculated from the serial number.
Which unit do I have: FX or NX?
- TravelPilot FX — 5-inch colour screen, SD-card navigation. Common in Focus Mk2.5, C-Max and Kuga Mk1.
- TravelPilot NX — 6.5-inch screen with DVD navigation. Common in Mondeo Mk4, S-Max and Galaxy.
Both behave the same way when locked: the screen asks for a code and blocks all functions until it is entered.
Finding the serial number
The TravelPilot serial is on the label on the unit body. Most labels show a long Blaupunkt reference plus a Ford part code starting with CD3T, C7E3A or C7E3F, followed by the serial digits.
- Remove the unit with two pairs of radio release keys (four slots in the fascia corners).
- Photograph the complete label — every printed line, sharp and readable.
- Note the serial line; the last seven digits are what the code is calculated from.

Entering the code
- Switch on the ignition; the screen asks for the keycode.
- Enter the four digits with the numbered buttons or the on-screen keypad.
- Confirm with OK. The unit restarts with navigation and radio unlocked.
Frequently asked questions
Why does my TravelPilot ask for a code after every battery change?
The anti-theft memory is wiped whenever constant 12 V power is lost. The code itself never changes — keep it with your documents and you can re-enter it in seconds next time.
The screen says SAFE or blocks input. What now?
Too many wrong attempts trigger a wait timer. Leave the ignition and unit on for about an hour, after which the input unlocks for another attempt.
Does the code also unlock the navigation?
Yes. The TravelPilot uses one keycode for the whole unit — radio, CD/DVD and navigation all return once the code is accepted.
