Fiat Radio Code — Serial Number & Blue&Me Guide
Your Fiat radio is locked and showing a code prompt — this happens on every OEM Fiat stereo after a battery disconnect. Whether you have a simple CD unit in a Panda II, a Blue&Me unit in a Grande Punto, or a more recent Continental-supplied unit in a 500 facelift, the process is the same: find the serial number and retrieve the four-digit code. This guide covers all common Fiat OEM radios fitted between 1999 and 2019.
Fiat Radio Serial Number Format
Fiat OEM radios use a serial number printed on a label on the head unit casing. Some units carry a BP prefix (from the Blaupunkt supply chain), while others have an alphanumeric serial beginning with the unit's part code. The serial is typically 10–14 characters long.
How to access it:
- Single DIN units (OEM CD, basic AM/FM) — the label is on the top or side of the casing. Remove the unit using DIN keys or a thin flat-blade tool to release the spring clips. The serial is beneath the barcode on the label.
- Blue&Me units — Blue&Me is both a hands-free/USB system and a radio head unit on 500, Panda III, Grande Punto and Bravo. Navigate to Settings → Info → Device serial on the Blue&Me screen to see the serial without removing the unit.
- Sticker in glovebox or handbook — Fiat dealers sometimes placed a code card in the vehicle documentation. Check the glovebox lid and the handbook pouch before dismantling anything.

How to Enter a Fiat Radio Code
Standard OEM CD / AM-FM units
- Switch on the ignition so the radio displays a code prompt.
- Press preset buttons 1–4 to scroll each digit to the correct value.
- Press the confirm button (varies by unit — it may be labelled OK, a right-arrow, or the AM/FM button).
- The display shows the station name and normal radio operation resumes.
Blue&Me units (Fiat 500, Panda III, Grande Punto facelift)
- The Blue&Me screen displays a numeric code-entry interface after power-on.
- Use the physical preset buttons or the rotary controller to select each digit.
- Confirm the final digit. The system unlocks and Bluetooth/USB functions resume alongside the radio.

Troubleshooting Fiat Radio Codes
- Code prompt not appearing — switch the ignition to position II (accessories) and wait 10–15 seconds. If the display stays blank, check the radio fuse.
- Wrong code entered — on most Fiat OEM units, entering the wrong code causes a brief lockout. The wait period varies from 30 minutes to one hour.
- Timed lockout — leave the ignition in position II for the specified period (usually shown as a countdown on Blue&Me units) before trying again.
- Blue&Me says "System locked" — this is a separate fault from the radio code and usually indicates a software issue with the Blue&Me module. The radio code and the Blue&Me system code are independent.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why does my Fiat 500 radio ask for a code after a battery change?
All Fiat OEM radios — including Blue&Me units — store an anti-theft code that reactivates whenever power is cut. A battery change, a blown radio fuse, or even a brief terminal disconnect will trigger the prompt. This is a security feature, not a fault.
Where do I find the serial number on a Fiat Blue&Me unit?
Go to Settings → Info → Device serial on the Blue&Me screen. The serial number is displayed without any need to remove the unit. If the Blue&Me screen is not responding, try a soft reset first (hold the volume knob for 10 seconds).
My Fiat Panda radio has no label visible — can I still get the code?
If the label is not visible without removal, remove the unit using a thin flat tool inserted into the spring-clip slots beside the radio face. The serial will be on the top or side of the casing. If the label is damaged, note any part numbers visible on the PCB housing and contact us via the brands page.
Does the Fiat 500 serial number start with BP?
Some 500 units do use a BP prefix (a legacy of the Blaupunkt supply relationship). However, not all — Continental and Pioneer-supplied units have different format serials. Use whichever alphanumeric string appears directly below the barcode on the label.
My code unlocked the radio but Blue&Me still does not connect to my phone. Why?
The radio anti-theft code and the Blue&Me Bluetooth pairing are entirely separate. Unlocking the radio with the correct code restores audio; Bluetooth pairing must be done separately through the Blue&Me phone pairing menu once the unit is unlocked.
