Audi Chorus Radio Code Guide

The Audi Chorus is the entry-level cassette/CD radio fitted to the A2, A3 8L/8P, A4 B5/B6 and early A6 from the late 1990s to the mid-2000s. Its bigger siblings are the Concert and Symphony — all three share the same code system.

Getting the serial on the display

Many Chorus units can show their own AUZ serial:

1. Switch the radio on so SAFE is shown.
2. Press and hold the P.SCAN (or SCAN) and RDS buttons together.
3. The display shows the serial beginning AUZ — note all fourteen characters.

No display serial? Remove the unit with four release keys and read the label. Then order your Audi radio code.

Entering the code

1. Display shows SAFE, then 1000 after holding the two right-hand buttons.
2. Set the four digits with preset buttons 1–4.
3. Hold the same two right-hand buttons until SAFE disappears.

Two attempts only — after that the unit locks on SAFE for an hour. Leave it switched on and try again later.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Chorus, Concert and Symphony?

Trim level: Chorus is the base cassette unit, Concert adds CD and better amplification, Symphony has an in-dash changer. The code procedure and AUZ serial system are identical.

My Chorus shows SAFE 2. What does the 2 mean?

The digit counts the wrong attempts. At 2 the unit enters its one-hour lock-out; afterwards the prompt returns automatically.

Is the code on a card somewhere in my car?

Original owners received a code card with the service booklet — worth checking the glovebox first. Missing card? The serial route replaces it permanently.
