Renault Scénic radio code: step-by-step unlock guide

The Renault Scénic is one of Europe's most popular compact MPVs. Built on the Mégane platform, it uses the same radio anti-theft system. After a power interruption the display shows CODE and you need the Renault Scénic radio code. Here is how to retrieve it.

Which Scénic do you have?

• Scénic I (1996-2003) — Philips or Tuner List radio
• Scénic II (2003-2009) — Tuner List or Cabasse radio
• Scénic III (2009-2016) — Update List or Carminat TomTom
• Scénic IV / Grand Scénic (2016-present) — R-Link 2 or Easy Link

Find the PRE-code

The Renault Scénic radio code is derived from the PRE-code (1 letter and 3 digits, e.g. K047).

Via the display

1. Switch on the ignition; the display shows CODE.
2. Press and hold preset buttons 1 and 5 (Scénic I/II) or 1 and 6 (Scénic III/IV).
3. Note the PRE-code shown on the display.

Via the radio label

If the display method fails, remove the radio with extraction keys and read the PRE-code from the sticker on the unit.

Retrieve and enter the code

1. Go to the Renault page and enter the PRE-code.
2. Receive your four-digit code instantly.
3. Use preset buttons 1 to 4 to set each digit and hold button 6 to confirm.

Note: Grand Scénic and 7-seater versions

The Grand Scénic (the longer 7-seat version) uses the same radio systems as the standard Scénic. The PRE-code method and code entry are identical.

Frequently asked questions

My Scénic has Carminat navigation. Does the PRE-code still work?

On some Carminat TomTom units the PRE-code is not shown on screen. In that case remove the unit and use the serial number from the label.

Is the Scénic radio code the same as the Mégane?

The code is unique to each radio's serial/PRE-code, but the method is identical because both share the same platform and radio systems.

What does WAIT mean on my Scénic display?

Too many wrong attempts. Leave the ignition on for at least 30 minutes until the radio resets, then try again.
